This year is my first year participating in Inktober (well, in a serious way).  It took me soo long to think of a topic, then when I finally did, there were two I could hardly choose between. So.... I didn't! Okay yes, I've proba bly bitten off more than I can chew.... but I'm really loving both of the themes, and they are both teaching me a lot of new skills in different ways.  Hopefully they both survive till the 31st!  The ones below are painted and gouache and finished with ink pens. The theme is weird insects.  I also wanted to do some more traditional black and white sketches, so these ones are just done using black brush pens of various sizes, and the theme is 90's cartoons. So that's the first five days. I'm hoping to try and upload each day from now on! Happy Inktober!! 

So just realised I haven't updated for a really long time... I've been using an app called arty games that gives you prompts for art ideas. This app is fantastic for me since I sometimes have trouble coming up with concepts! Arty games youtube video

If you watch Rick and Morty and American Dad then you should recognise these two.... I basically drew this because I think they would be absolutely hilarious together, and since it's pretty much never going to happen!! Also this counts as day 25 (Draw a Couple) in the #30 Day Drawing Challenge (yes I know I've skipped like 22 days here). I used Gimp to draw this:  https://www.gimp.org  and my Wacom tablet.

I've been in Thailand for the last two weeks, and it was amaaaaaaaazing.....! I swam, I ate, I jet boated and kayaked.  I got a tan for the first time EVER, and I got to meet some truly awesome people. So, when I returned home (after sleeping for an undetermined number of hours), and I was standing in the kitchen in my pj's, struggling to remove a spoon from the bottom of the dishwasher, a wave of sadness washed over me. My beautiful holiday is over, my tan will fade, and all of the silly problems in my life have become real again...

Okay Day three! Today the drawing topic was 'genderbend'. This was quite a fun one for me, at least once I came up with an idea. I still think that the concept and the pose could be pushed a lot more, and the colouring was rushed, but I had a spitting headache when I drew this so I'm actually pretty happy.
